In practical art work the term texture has at least three possible meanings.
1 - The actual representation of textures of everyday reality.
2 - Texture of paint application, for example, handling, brush stroke, scumbling, et cetera, or variously called painterly.
3 - When substances such as concrete and sand are mixed into the paints so as to give the area painted a differentiated, granulated surface.
