Zimbabwean born Makiwa Mutomba is a self-taught artist who is methodically revolutionising African portraiture. He uses intense and vibrant colours - applied to canvas with only a palette knife - to depict mostly black African people. Makiwa, who has exhibited previously at galleries in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana and Germany, is currently painting for a group exhibition in London.
