Lifelong dream to see Antarctica. First visit:2004 painted aboard ship and subsequently.
Selected as member : S.A National Antarctic Expedition (3 MONTHS)as
ARTIST -in- RESIDENCE , SANAE Base,where she painted, explored and experienced the polar environment in all its diversity.Her passion for the ice continent continues to drive her art.She seeks to explore visually aspects of this place. The outward representation is but like the visible part of the iceberg;there are deeper aspects. Many paradoxes occur:power..fragility; dynamic...timeless;danger...Peace.Antarctica opens many concepts, it touches one visually, physically, spiritually, emotionally. One is compelled to respond.\'In part, my painting is to share concern for the vulnerability/fracturability of this part of the Creation. It also expresses awe of a place that is a lightning-rod of our earth.Antarctica.
