This wildlife painting is of the Cape Buffalo of South Africa.
Buffalo are fairly safe from all predators including Lions, because
of both the size of the individuals, and the large numbers of
the herd. A group of adults will chase away even a pride of lions.
When Buffalo go on the stampede they stick close together making
it difficult for individuals to be singled out and caught. The
Cape Buffalo of Africa can weigh up to 800kg and can reach a height
of 1,6 meters. The life expectancy of the Buffalo is 15 to 20
years.
