Art Education
- Rosa Hope studied art at Slade School, London, under Henry Tonks, Wilson Steer and John Wheatley; General School, London

Short Artist Biography
- 1926 : Rosa Hope won the Prix de Rome; the winning work, Adoration of the Shepherds, was subsequently exhibited on the Royal Academy. She followed her formal studies with wide travels in Europe; exhibited in England and on the continent.
- 1935 : On a visit to South Africa, her former teacher, John Wheatley, then Michaelis Professor, offered Rosa Hope an appointment as lecturer in figure-drawing and etching at the Michaelis School; started the department of Engraving; member of South Afican Society of Artists.
- 1938 – 1957 : Senior lecturer in Fine Art, University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg; during vacations traveled and painted in Drakensberg and Transkei; portrait commissions.
- 1957 : Following her retirement Rosa Hope concentrated on portraiture and landscapes in gouache; traveled widely; used Guesthouse at Mariannhill Mission as her home-port. Associate of Royal Society of Painters and Etchers, London.
